It was a blue Monday when the driver of a Mercedes Benz knocked over a pedestrian and narrowly escaped crashing into a doctor’s surgery after he mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes.
The woman who was knocked over at the Honeydew Shopping Centre was taken to hospital for further treatment.
Dr Davy Mboweni said that he was shocked when he received a call from another doctor who alerted him to the accident this morning.
“The driver of the car said he was trying to park when he accidentally pressed the accelerator and knocked the woman who had been standing against the wall.”
Mboweni added that the driver of the car claimed that he did not have insurance but promised to fix the damages to the two windows that broke upon impact. “It could have been worse,” he said.
The driver of the silver grey C-Class Mercedes Benz appeared visibly shaken when the Honeydew Police arrived to take his statement.
