Manthe is the best

Meet dancer Manthe

Manthe Ribane was one of 20 gifted South African dancers selected to attend the first-ever Red Bull BC One Camp. It took place at an undisclosed location outside the Mother City.

The dancers were immersed in lectures and couch sessions by prominent names in the international and local scene. They include international Red Bull BC One All-star Roxrite, Rynan Pagui who is a member of international hip-hop award-winning dance crew the Jabbawockeez, choreography legend Somizo Mhlongo and Lorcia Cooper.

Dancers received coaching on various topics including business, nutrition, sports psychology and media training to equip them with knowledge that goes beyond their craft, and to create a broader understanding of career growth and well-being.

Manthe is a highly versatile dancer. She is multi-skilled and able to cover a wide range of dance styles including pantsula, Sbhujwa, hip-hop and pop lock. She is also always willing to learn more in order to develop and grow her skills set.

“I’ve been dancing professionally for the past seven years. My love of dancing began when I was young. Because my mother saw potential in me, she encouraged me to achieve the best I could,” she said.

At the age of eight, Manthe performed at Nelson Mandela’s birthday party, a definitive moment that still stands out for the dancer.

She finds inspiration in the memory of her late parents, siblings and everyone she has met.

The dancer would love to start an orphanage for children where she could include the arts. Her dream is to share her gifts with children and inspire them from a young age, since her parents played a big role in her development and choice to pursue her dreams.

“Doing that for other children would be a beautiful way for me to express gratitude. My hope is to innovate and elevate their minds from a young age and to know that anything is possible,” she said.

One of the main things she has learnt is the importance of taking action for change to happen. She is enthusiastic about the idea of sharing her skills with those around her and hopes to assist in their development.
