16 people injured in accident

Sixteen people, including one child, were left injured after a taxi accident occurred on Golf Club Terrace on Sunday morning, 3 July.

The taxi was the only vehicle involved in the incident.

According to an ER24 spokesperson, the driver of the taxi lost control of the vehicle, which rolled several times. Paramedics responded to the scene and found the taxi lying on its side in a filling station’s garden. On assessment, it was found that one person had sustained moderate injuries including fractures, while 15 others had sustained minor injuries. ER24 treated and transported the moderately injured patient to the Flora Clinic for further treatment. The remaining patients were treated and transported to the Helen Joseph Hospital by other medical services on scene.

The actual cause of the incident remains unknown. Authorities were on scene for further investigation.
