MUST READ: Two dead after taxi crash

WILLOWBROOK - Two women were declared dead after this morning's accident on Hendrik Potgieter Road.

Two people died and ten were injured this morning in an accident between a taxi and a truck on Hendrik Potgieter Road, near the Doreen Road corner.

According to ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, two people died in the accident.

An eyewitness said both vehicles were travelling towards Ruimsig after 7am on 29 June, when the truck attempted to make a U-turn towards Johannesburg and collided with the taxi, ripping off the main door. The taxi rolled down the grass embankment next to the road.

A large crowd gathered between the scattered pieces of the white taxi while the Johannesburg Metro Police Department’s accident unit, firefighters and paramedics attempted to treat the injured.

“The injuries [of the 10 injured] ranged from minor to serious. Paramedics treated the patients and provided the seriously injured with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to various hospitals,” Meiring said.
