WATCH: Another victim of signal jamming caught on camera

BERGBRON - Signal jamming on the rise as another victim is targeted at petrol stations in the area.

Owners of petrol stations in the area say they feel powerless after yet another signal jamming took place at the Bergbron BP Garage on Gordon Road on 27 June.

Hennie Wessels, the owner of the garage, said that this is becoming a serious problem. “It happened at the Engen Garage down the road as well and it appears to be the same person,” said Wessels.

He said that he has had six cases of signal jamming in two years.

CICA South Africa reported on their Facebook site that the victim was driving a dark blue Jeep SUV.

The suspects in the white Audi with the registration number FF 58KG GP, jammed the signal so that the car couldn’t lock. CICA said that the suspect then walked over to the SUV and took a leather laptop bag with a laptop inside, ID, Passport and tablet. “The registration number on the Audi is registered as a courtesy vehicle at the Audi Centre – Airport in Rhodesfield Kempton Park. It appears as if the suspects used a cloned registration number.

Wessels added that he is aware of many cases like this in the area. He said that his staff is scared to get involved as they are being intimidated by the suspects. “I want to put up a big sign to warn people, but I have to go through the management of BP to get it approved,” said Wessels. He said that he is busy training staff to be on the lookout.

“I feel powerless,” concluded Wessels.
