Cop allegedly sold service pistol to drug dealer

Sexual allegations also levelled against sergeant.

A police sergeant who lives in Newlands and is stationed at Sophiatown Police Station is facing a variety of serious allegations.

A complainant said a case has been opened against him after he allegedly sold his service pistol to a drug dealer. The Record could confirm that such a case indeed exists.

Furthermore the complainant claimed the man also acts inappropriately around his two teenage daughters by walking around naked and entering the bathroom while they are bathing. He allegedly tried to solicit sex from his daughters’ friends. The complainant said the man sells prescription drugs illegally.

The man still reports for duty and has not been suspended.

Sophiatown Police Station referred the Record’s query to the Provincial Office.

“Police at Sophiatown Police Station have engaged the Department of Social Services and the National Prosecuting Authority to deal with all the allegations involving this family. However, criminal investigations relating to the loss of a state firearm are continuing. Cases of illegal dealing in firearm and ammunition, and perjury are being investigated although the policeman claimed that the firearm was stolen from him. An internal investigation is also under way relating to all the allegations. Station management consider all the allegations very seriously,” said provincial spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Dlamini.
