WSRNW needs your support for child cancer ward

Appealing to public for help.

West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch (WSRNW) is launching a project to support the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital child cancer ward. When the child of one their members was admitted they saw the dire conditions in the ward.

According to Frik van Zyl, spokesperson for WSRNW, “It is really sad to see. Some of the children who are admitted have nothing or very little. In some cases their families do not even visit them.”

WSRNW will fund a large part of the project but asked the public to get involved by making a small donation and/ or contribute the following:

• sugar

• coffee

• tea

• long-life milk

• bread spreads

• Oros

• colouring books and crayons

• new toys (due to germ issues)

The public can also donate wool since WSRNW has someone who will knit for the children.

“An average of 50 children visits the ward daily and there are permanent patients too,” said Van Zyl.

Anyone who wants to assist can contact Anette van Rensburg on 082 574 3039 or Van Zyl on 084 581 9223. Donations can be dropped off at their radio control room at 82 Koeberg Street in Witpoortjie between 6pm and 8pm on Tuesdays.
