Helping the less fortunate

A passion for helping the community

With the goal of improving the lives of the impoverished children in Braamfischerville, Apostle Khehla Mnguni has been hard at work helping the community. This year, he has helped by counselling orphaned children and assisting children and their families with basic needs. He did so by requesting the Departments of Home Affairs, Immigration and Social Development to send staff members to assist these children. The staff from these departments brought mobile on-site vehicles in and worked tirelessly to assist as many people as possible. “There are many children who come from broken homes, have no birth certificates and their parents have no form of identification. Some children were born in the country but their parents are foreigners. These children are not recognised by the state and cannot be taken care of. This is where I have been working hard – to assist them,” said Mnguni.

The mobile vehicle went to Ikusasa Lethu Senior Secondary School and Nkone Maruping Primary School. More than 30 children and parents were helped immediately, while the details of many more were taken for later processing.

“We target child-headed households because they need a lot of help, and with the help of a social worker, we try to find solutions to such problems,” said Mnguni.

As winter is in full swing, Mnguni has also been collecting food parcels and warm clothing for the community. “Many children in this community struggle to get proper school uniforms, and normal clothing. Winter is a terrible time and we need to protect our children,” he said.
