Charterhouse math whizzes receive awards

RADIOKOP – Charterhouse is named the third best performing school in the Horizon Maths Competition.

Charterhouse School was invited to the Horizon Maths Competition Awards Ceremony held earlier in June and walked away with a number of awards.

To win these awards, Charterhouse attended the 15th Annual Horizon Maths Competition held at the Linder Auditorium at the Education Campus of the University of the Witwatersrand.

The number of entrants in this maths competition, which started in 2002, has grown considerably over the years. This year, there were 36 700 entrants throughout South Africa.

“We were very proud to take 22 of our Grade 6’s and 7’s to the Top 200 ceremony for Gauteng. This year, there were over 7 200 entries in Gauteng from over 30 participating schools. Charterhouse Schools this year proudly received a prestigious silver trophy and the honour of being ranked within this competition as the third Best Performing School,” said Lynn Davis, Charterhouse head of department for grades 6 and 7.

• Anton Strydom (seventh)

• Zoë Da Silva (30th)

• Jenna Morton (37th)

• Natalie Castanheira (47th)
