Hit-and-run driver still missing

ROODEPOORT – Information is still urgently needed on details of a vehicle after a security guard was killed.

The Honeydew Police and Londoloza Protection Group is still urgently in need of any information regarding a hit and run that killed one of their officers on the morning of 8 June.

Roodepoort Northsider previously reported that the security guard was walking home on Hendrik Potgieter Road at around 6am when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. Ivan Ryan from Londoloza said that he was working an extra shift at a complex the night before and was on his way home when the incident happened.

Ryan said that no new information was available. Ryan explained that no one has come forward regarding information on the driver of the vehicle.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Karen Jacobs said that a case of culpable homicide was opened and are being investigated by Honeydew detective services. “Currently, no-one has been arrested as the alleged vehicle that hit the deceased and drove off and did not stop at the scene,” said WO Jacobs.

She added that anyone with information is requested to make contact with the investigating officer, Constable Ridge Motaung.
