‘Please leave us to mourn in peace’ – Andre Lategan

The service for the late Hanle Lategan was both a tribute and a dedication to her life.

Nearly a thousand people came together to say their final goodbyes to their dear friend, family member and colleague, Hanle Lategan.

The Roodekrans Dutch Reformed Church started filling up at 9.30am yesterday morning, 7 June, for the funeral of the slain estate agent.

Lategan was the third victim of the brutal killings that shocked Krugersdorp to its core last month.

According to her former employer, Glenn Norton, CEO of RE/MAX Masters, the service was a beautiful dedication of her life.

Reverend Jan Smit sent out a wonderful message to the community, urging them not to surrender to hatred as this would steal their peace. He also reminded them that the Lord’s will will be done.

Turquoise ribbons were given to everyone at the service, in memory of Hanle.

“It was wonderful to see the community come together as a whole in support of Hanle’s family,” Norton said

Lategan’s husband, André, told the News the family had decided, even before the funeral, to stop talking to the media.

“We ask that you leave us to mourn the death of our beloved Hanle in peace,” a distraught André said.
