Take A Girl Child To Work

Take a girl child to work initiative in Roodepoort

Court J of the Roodepoort Magistrates Court had unfamiliar faces seated in the stands last month.

Clad in their uniforms and scribbling notes in their books, 38 school girls were watching the courts proceedings.

This was because The Roodepoort Police together with the Roodepoort Magistrate Court arranged for the pupils to be in court.

The different departments were participating in the Take a Girl Child to Work Day, an annual corporate social investment event.

Pupils from schools such as Hoêrskole Roodepoort, Florida and Riebeeck, West Ridge, Tulip and Allen Glen High Schools participated.

The girls were first welcomed by magistrate Ruby Matthys and other magistrates.

They were taught the daily proceedings of a court while the SAPS Social Crime Prevention spoke to the pupils about how to join the police force as well as their rights as citizens of South Africa.
