32 injured in accident

Three taxis involved.

It is understood that 32 people were injured this morning (7 June) when three taxis collided at the Main Reef and Elias Motswaledi Roads intersection.

ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, found three taxis in the middle of the busy intersection. Passengers of the taxi involved in the collision were found either walking around or sitting on the grassy embankment.

Metro services had to close off the road and divert traffic due to the number of vehicles and patients on the scene. A triage area was set up to allow paramedics to assess all the patients properly.

It was discovered that 32 patients had injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Some of the patients were children, aged between 10 and 18, on their way to school.
