The recent murder of Ruimsig Re/Max estate agent, Hanle Lategan left people speculating on possible causes as well as links between the murder and two other recent murders in Krugersdorp.
Captain Appel Ernst, communication officer for Randfontein Police said that a team of investigators has been identified to investigate the recent murders in the Krugersdorp area. “The team is working around the clock to ensure that the investigation is done objectively and methodically,” said Ernst. She added that investigators are following up all possible leads and trying to uncover the truth as per individual case while collecting evidence as well. “This includes the recent Lategan murder,” said Ernst.
She added that it is necessary to expose and/or prove evidential links to other cases should they exist. “The SAPS needs to secure and protect our resources and processes to ensure success,” said Ernst. No information regarding how the crime was committed will be communicated until all the links have been investigated.
“Progress is being made in the investigation of all the cases in the Krugersdorp area. We are positive that we will succeed in bringing the suspects in these cases to book,” concluded Ernst.
