Robbery victim waits more than a week for case number

Victim wants to take steps against police.

Hannes Frauendorf, who fell victim to a traumatic armed robbery last Monday, is fuming over the service he received from Roodepoort Police Station.

Frauendorf had to wait eight days to get a case number and only received it after he had made numerous phone calls. He also said the police did no follow up with him after the incident.

“On the scene I asked them whether they could trace my cellphone and they enthusiastically said they could. They never did though and I want to know why,” said Frauendorf. He has vowed to take his complaint to the highest police structures.

Man fears for life as robbers argue about killing him

This is not the end of Frauendorf’s woes though. A few days after the robbery he discovered that as a safety precaution he took out the bolts of the two rifles that were stolen, but that the suspects did not realise it during the robbery. Now he fears that they might come back, especially after a second incident at his home.

“Because they took all my keys I am living in fear. I did change the locks but the thought that they took the keys because they were planning to return still haunts me. One night, over the weekend, I was sleeping when I heard someone trying to unlock the back door – the same door through which the suspects entered the first time. I jumped up and started screaming and whoever was at the door fled. I suspect they came back for the bolts of the rifles, hoping that I have not changed the locks,” said Frauendorf.
