Teenage girl thrown out of moving car during hijacking

The father and daughter, who broke her ankle, were taken to hospital

While the community is still reeling from the attempted hijacking and subsequent murder on Friday night, another violent hijacking took place in Lindhaven this morning (31 May).

A woman was pulling her vehicle out of her driveway in Acacia Street when four males in a white VW Golf pulled up behind her and blocked her way. They forced her back into the house at gunpoint where her husband and two children were. They tied up the family and pistol-whipped the husband.

After ransacking the house they loaded the goods into the family’s Golf but failed to get it to start. They then put the goods in the family’s Volvo and fled with the teenage girl in the vehicle. In South Road they threw her out of the vehicle.

The father and daughter, who broke her ankle, were taken to hospital.

A dismayed Frik van Zyl, spokesperson for West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch (WSRNW) said, “The situation is now completely out of hand.

“These are not random incidents. The suspects are watching their targets before striking. Residents must be vigilant when coming and going. Be on the lookout for suspicious vehicles. Also check if you are being followed.

This past Friday a man was shot dead during a botched hijacking in Boren Street in Witpoortjie.
