‘Satanist-porn’ fraudster gets three years’ house arrest

Fraudster must pay back the money she stole from her victims.

Leone Steyn, the woman who defrauded churches and an online counselling service of over R500 000 in cash and goods, was sentenced to 3 years’ house arrest on 30 May, and has to refund the money to the complainant, Stephanie Crouse.

Steyn defrauded her victims with an elaborate tale of children being caught up in a ‘satanic child porn ring’. Magistrate Andrea Davie said she did not give Steyn the mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years because she would then not have been able to pay Crouse.

Steyn has to continue undergoing both drug and psychological counselling. She has to pay R4 500 of her R5 000 income every month to Crouse for the next five years.
