Community takes action against drug dealer

MULDERSDRIFT – A 27-year-old man is arrested for allegedly selling nyaope to young people.

Residents from Plot 4, Rietfontein Village in Muldersdrift, assisted police in arresting a 27-year-old man who is suspected of dealing in drugs.

During the evening of 25 May at about 11.10pm, residents arrested the man for being in possession of packets of substances believed to be nyaope.

“The man is suspected of dealing in drugs. It is further alleged that the man was about to sell to young people in the area,” said Muldersdrift police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya.

He explained that residents were fed up with all kinds of crime in the area, from social to shocking incidents. This prompted police to organise residents to assist in the fight against the siege of drug dealers and crime around Muldersdrift area.

“The members of the community arrested and handed the suspect over to constables Mxolisi Ndlovu and Sibusiso Khanyile for further detention and investigation. The man will be charged and will appear in Krugersdorp Magistrates’ court soon,” he said in a statement.

Muldersdrift Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Kgaogelo Seabi, applauded the members for their dedication and the initiative taken which led to the arrest.

He further indicated that no crime will be tolerated in the Muldersdrift area.
