Truck driver’s common sense prevents collision

Driver's quick thinking might have saved lives.

A truck driver’s common sense might have saved lives earlier this morning (27 May).

The truck was going down CR Swart Road and turned into Doreen Road. (The truck allegedly already had problems with its brakes on CR Swart Road). As it went down Doreen Road the driver saw the vehicles in front of him backed up but when he tried to stop, his brakes failed. To prevent crashing into the vehicles he quickly turned the truck sideways, jackknifing it on purpose. He prevented the collision but crashed into the barriers on the corner of Lawrence and Doreen Roads.

Emergency services took the driver and his passenger to hospital.

This was the second truck accident at the exact same spot in a week.
