Man wanted for allegedly murdering infant

Police, community circulate an urgent appeal regarding Shaughn Patric Bruckmann.

A warrant officer called their urgent appeal for information on the whereabouts of a man accused of murder the police’s “last resort”.

Warrant Officer Bruce van der Schyff is investigating the case of Shaughn Patric Bruckmann, who was on trial for allegedly murdering an infant. Bruckmannn was granted bail of R5 000 after being arrested for the murder in 2010. Since that year he regularly appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court. However, last September he absconded bail and the court subsequently issued a warrant for his arrest. At the time of his disappearance, criminal proceedings were at an advanced stage.

“I’ve been trying to locate him without any success. This is our last resort, appealing to the community for further information,” Van der Schyff told the Record.

“It is possible that he fled the city and even the country, but we hold on to the hope that he is still in South Africa.”

The man was first apprehended near his residence in Edenvale. His photo is being circulated by the Cleveland Police and the larger Facebook anti-crime community.

If you have any information on his whereabouts or any other information, contact Warrant Officer Van der Schyff at the Cleveland Police Station on 011 677 5720 or 082 651 7769. Crime Stop can also be contacted at all hours on 08600 10111.
