Shakey Russell breathes life into Elvis

Get your blue suedes ready and rock with Elvis

Roodepoort’s Shaky Russell and an awesome live 12-piece cast will perform more than 32 of Elvis’ greatest hits.

The Way It Was is a tribute show that will keep audience members on the edge of their seats with Shaky’s array of custom-made costumes and energetic performance.

Only four shows have been scheduled for the event taking place at The Cresta Barnyard Theatre in the first week of June.

Shaky will be accompanied on stage by stellar performers such as Craig Urbani, Chanelle Davids and a live rocking band and cast.

It has been almost 10 years since Shaky last performed in the West Rand.

Shaky is the ultimate Elvis fan, imitating his every move and sound to perfection.

It all started when he saw the Elvis film ‘Loving You’ at the age of 5.

He started imitating Elvis’ voice, a habit which turned into a near obsession.

Shaky has performed across South Africa and abroad, with the highlight being performing metres away from the shrine of the King himself, at the home of Elvis Presley in Graceland, Memphis Tennessee.

He also had the opportunity to record at the legendary Sun Studio, which has been used by many stars including Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and Elvis.

Some of the songs fans can look forward to include Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, American Trilogy, Always On My Mind, Burning Love, Can’t Help Falling In Love, Suspicious Minds and many more.
