Canines fed thanks to corporate donation

SPCA Roodepoort and Fora the happy beneficiaries of a generous Roodepoort business.

A massive R2 700 worth of dog food and blankets were received by the Roodepoort SPCA and Fora as a generous donation from a Roodepoort business last week.

The Roodepoort SPCA urged residents and local businesses to donate dog food to them during a desperate dry spell earlier this month. The plea was heard by Powermite, a supplier of industrial materials, and staff went to work to collect R2 700 in corporate donations. With the money, the staff set out to buy nine 25kg bags of dog food which they then donated.

A mere few days later another staff member received an appeal from Linda Scrace of Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora) for blankets, which the Powermite family once again responded to. They sourced blankets from a factory in Robertville, which were later donated.

“We challenge other companies in Roodepoort and Krugersdorp to match our donations or improve on it, as the Roodepoort SPCA and Fora could genuinely use the assistance,” Bridget van der Westhuizen on behalf of the company said.
