Maragon hockey slams the competition

RUIMSIG - Maragon Private Schools' boys hockey teams represent the school in recent hockey tournaments.

Maragon Private Schools proved that they are a force to be reckoned with on the hockey field.

The U15 first and second boy’s hockey teams competed in the Southern Gauteng provincial Aitken and Boden Cup tournaments on 13 and 14 May.

The first team of Maragon will represent the school in the finals of the Aitken B-section against Fourways High School.

The U15 Boden team took second place in their pool on 13 May after they beat the teams of Edenglen High School and Hyde Park High School and lost to Trinityhouse High Randpark, ending the pool rounds in the top eight. On 14 May they lost to Edenvale High School and beat St Peter’s College. The Boden team will be playing for position five or six in the B-section during this week.

The second team played in the Aitken B-section and beat Roodepoort, drew to Trinityhouse Little Falls, lost to Sicelo Development, beat Reddam House School and lost to Monument High School. The second team ended third in the Aitken D-section.

The second team of Maragon came third in the Aitken D-section.

The first team played in the Aitken B-section and won their pool on 13 May after drawing with Redhill School and beating Florida High School and Veritas College ending in the top eight. On 14 May they beat Dainfern College to go through to the semi-finals where they faced Monument High School. This game, unfortunately, was stopped in the third chukka due to the lightning with the score at 2-2.

The game had to be postponed to this week and if Maragon’s first team wins, they will play in the finals of the Aitken B-section against Fourways High School.
