Drone destroyed but there is good news

Owner relieved to have recovered expensive cameras.

A drone enthusiast, Manie Jooste is relieved to have been reunited with his beloved drone that went missing on Friday afternoon.

The drone, valued at about R50 000, had a technical glitch and decided to go its own way. Yesterday after the Record had placed an article about the incident, with Manie’s cellphone number, a member of the Ontdekkers Park Church of the Latter-day Saints called him to say they had the drone, albeit in pieces.

Reward for missing drone

“I am not really bothered about the drone but am relieved to have recovered the two Go-Pro cameras of R8 000 each. Luckily they are shockproof,” said Manie.

“The church is about 500m from my house and I suspected it would be in that vicinity. I am just happy the drone did not hit a person or a vehicle and caused an accident,” concluded Manie.

He kept his promise of a reward and donated R1 000 to the church.
