The tallest known tree is 379 ft. tall

May 16 of each year celebrates National Love a Tree Day. On this day, trees are celebrated and recognized for the wonderful gift that they are to us and the gifts that they give to us. National Love a Tree Day is in the middle of Garden for Wildlife Month.

Most species of trees tend to be long-lived. There are actually some trees that live to be several thousand years old.

The tallest known tree is 379 ft. tall.

It is more than just the beauty and providing shelter and shade that trees provide us with. They play a significant role in reducing erosion and moderating the climate as well as give us oxygen. Large quantities of carbon are stored in their tissues as trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Trees are a vital part of nature. This is a good day to plant a new tree or spend some time enjoying the beauty of the trees that are all around you. Use #LoveATreeDay to post on social media.

Within our research, we were unable to find the creator and origin of National Love a Tree Day, an “unofficial” National holiday. National Love a Tree Day is a relative of Arbor Day.
