Three dealers arrested after two-week stakeout

Private forensic company assists police.

After a two-week stakeout, three foreign nationals were arrested for drug dealing in Groom Avenue.

According to an unofficial source involved in the operation, the police’s Crime Intelligence Unit with the assistance of a private forensic firm, Open Water, pounced yesterday at around noon. This came after police and Open Water had received various complaints from the public about drug activity on the street. At least 50g of the drug Cat, which sells for between R150 and R200 per gram, was confiscated. The operation ended at 6pm.

It is believed the suspects might be connected to another serious crimes committed recently.

Police could not be reached for official comment.
