Welties fun-filled fête

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Welties rejoices their successful fête.

Pupils and parents alike enjoyed the fun festivities at the annual Weltevreden Park Primary School fête.

The fête not only acts as a great day for socialising and fun but is a fundraiser for Welties. This year, on 7 May, visitors were not disappointed by the many stalls packed to the rafters with delightful items on sale. From home-made herb carriers to delicate jewellery, every shopper’s desire was attended to.

The baked goods area was, as always, a beautiful sight. Tables were laden with beautifully decorated cakes, cupcakes, and other sweet treats. All of the goods were either baked or donated by parents and friends of Welties.

Children had tons of fun activities to do like jumping castles, sand art, and games.

Also on offer was a sports derby between local primary schools in the area such as Panorama, Cliffview, Constantia, and Charterhouse. Pupils competed in games such as netball and soccer.

The overall winner was the host team, Welties.

Newly-appointed principal James van Djk said, “It was a brilliant day and even better that Welties won. All the schools showed excellent sportsmanship.”

He added, “It was well-organised and I send thanks out to all who attended as well as to those who helped make this day as enjoyable as it was.”
