Two injured seriously when truck crashes through wall

Two men, both in their 30s, were injured seriously this afternoon (9 May) when their truck crashed into a streetlight and then into a residence’s fence on Dame Street in Rand Leases.

ER24 paramedics found the light delivery van on the sidewalk next to the wall. Both men were trapped inside the vehicle – the driver critical and the passenger in a serious condition.

ER24 rescue medics had to use specialised rescue equipment to free both men from the vehicle.

Once freed, paramedics treated both patients and provided them with advanced life support. The patients were transported to Leratong and Discovery Clinic respectively for urgent treatment.

Local authorities will investigate the cause of the accident.
