Car stolen in Florida found at ‘chop shop’

Suspects scattered on Metro Police's arrival.

Yesterday 1 May Metro Police found a vehicle at what is believed to be a ‘chop shop’ in Dobsonville.

At around 9.45am Metro Police officers from Region D were patrolling when they received a message from a tracking company that a stolen vehicle was at an address in Dobsonville. They hurried to the address and as they arrived a number of suspects scattered and fled. They found a silver VW Polo that was already in the first stages of being stripped, said spokesperson Wayne Minnaar. It was established that the vehicle had been stolen in Florida earlier that morning at around 5.30am.

The vehicle was towed to the Vehicle Investigation Service Unit in Lenasia.

The parts of other vehicles reported stolen also were found on the premises.

No arrests have yet been made.
