Two arrested for murder and house breaking

MULDERSDRIFT – Police are confident about finding the remaing suspects.

Muldersdrift police arrested two suspects on 26 April on charges of murder and house breaking.

It is alleged that on 16 April at about 1.15am, a group of men was sitting around a fire having drinks on a plot in Rietfontein, Muldersdrift. Five unknown armed men approached them, demanding money and their phones. It is alleged that the suspects robbed the men and then shot and killed two of the victims before fleeing the scene on foot.

The case was investigated by Sergeant Sam Manana and Constable Mncedisi. They had a break through during the early hours of 26 April. “The gun wielding, aggressive and arrogant suspects were arrested while they were asleep,” said Muldersdrift Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya.

W/O Ngwenya said that the remaining three suspects were still at large and that the investigation is ongoing. “The firearms used in the murder have not been found yet,” said W/O Ngwenya. He said that the police are working really hard to catch the outstanding suspects.

The two arrested suspects will be appear in Krugersdorp magistrate court soon, facing charges of house robbery and murder.

The Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel K D Seabi applauded the team who spent nights scouting meetings with informers, following up and obtaining information. He further commended their dedication and perseverance which lead to the arrest of the most wanted suspects. “He further indicated that no crime will be tolerated and that the community of Muldersdrift will eventually have a peaceful sleep.
