Various crime fighting groups have issued a warning on their social media platforms regarding a fake Department of Home Affairs initiative.
A group of criminals are allegedly doing the rounds pretending to be from this department. They use this ruse to access their victims properties in order to rob them. They have paperwork that seems legitimate complete with the department’s letterheads and logos. They pretend to be going from house to house to check if residents have correct ID’s for the upcoming municipal election.
The Department of Home Affairs has launched no such an initiative.
