Budding engineers learn with Lego

RADIOKOP – Pupils of Charterhouse Preparatory get technical with Lego.

The Grade 6 pupils of Charterhouse Preparatory School were delighted to have a fun day of play and learning when the Junior Engineers for Africa (JEFA) recently came in to work with them.

The JEFA is an organisation that uses Lego to teach children the basic concepts of engineering and robotics. The pupils were taught about building, structures, forces, pulley systems, among others through creative and playful means. They were given the opportunity to build towers and automated cranes out of Lego. “The creative juices were certainly ignited by the challenges.

“Fun was had by all and the children loved every minute of it,” said Jasinca Christofi, a Grade 6 teacher at Charterhouse Preparatory School.
