City Power working to end Florida outages

Around 80 per cent of power supply to greater Florida area restored.

Most traffic lights on Ontdekkers Road as well as parts of Roodepoort went without power overnight.

Since around 10pm last night (Wednesday 20 April) residences in, among others White Ridge, Bergbron, Roodepoort CBD, Discovery, Quellerina and the greater Florida area were affected. It has been reported that a fault in a feeder cable at the Nursery Power Station in Roodepoort is to blame. A team was sent to the affected area to repair the cables.

At around 6am the entity urged residents to unplug all appliances not in use as regular system overloads were challenging their repairs. At around 7am residents in Quellerina took to twitter to say power has not yet been restored. By 8am, City Power reported that around 80 per cent of power to the greater Florida area has been restored.

An exact time for power restoration is not available but City Power technicians are hard at work.
