Nine goals for U9 netballers

WELTEVREDEN PARK – The Agape Christian School U9 netball team wins their first game of the season.

Netball is a sport that does not only improve coordination skills and is beneficial to the body, but it can also build friendships and encourage team building.

The U9 netball team of Agape Christian School in Weltevreden Park played their first game of the season on 14 April against Arthur Matthews Primary School of Maraisburg. The match took place on Agape’s courts and the girls of Agape dominated the game with a winning score of 9–0.

Their coach, Theresa Jennings told the school’s players that they can go far in netball. “You can make the provincial team, then you can go on to play for the South African team if you are a good player,” said Jennings.

She added that netball has many benefits for the pupils as they have a chance to keep in shape and learn life-long skills as well as self-confidence. “Netball reduces stress, improves peripheral vision, improves goal-setting skills and you can learn how to be focused,” she added.

Jennings concluded that she is very proud of the team.
