Charterhouse excels in pre-season tournament

RADIOKOP – The Charterhouse School U13 soccer team shines at Camp Discovery tournament.

Charterhouse School‘s U13 soccer team garnered praise when they participated in a pre-season soccer tournament at Camp Discovery on 8 to 9 April.

The tournament hosted some of the top schools in the country and the boys had the opportunity to play football as well as build friendships with some very talented boys from other schools.

The Charterhouse team finished in 10th position overall. The fixtures consisted of 19 teams that were split into two pools. In total, the Radiokop-based school played against nine teams over two days and finished fifth in their pool.

In a playoff match, the team played against the fifth-placed team in another pool. The boys lost the match on penalties and had to settle for a 10th place finish.

The school’s head of sport, David Alcock said that the boys played their hearts out on those two days and beat some top schools. He congratulated the team on all their efforts and said that they did Charterhouse proud. “We hope to make this tournament an annual event in the football calendar,” said Alcock.
