Networking at Hirsch’s

STRUBEN'S VALLEY – Hirsch's Struben's Valley hosts a cocktail for customers and businesses to get to know each other.

Hirsch’s Struben’s Valley and Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Rocci)held a business networking cocktail evening that brought businesses and customers together for the night.

The event was held at Hirsch’s Struben’s Valley on 14 April and had guests greeted with welcome drinks upon entry. The occasion was emceed by sales training expert, Vinesh Maharaj. He imparted invaluable information to guests that would help them grow their businesses and map their success.

Each business owner was given the opportunity to step up and introduce themselves, explaining to the audience what their company does. This was a way to get the networking started as companies would know who they were most likely to work with.

Maharaj said business owners should be alert because there is always competition waiting for the opportunity to take their place in the market. “You must always work to prosper, then your country can prosper too,” said Maharaj.

He added that people in sales should have the correct approach when they want to talk to a customer. He explained that the call they make is an interruption to that person, so they should try and make the interruption a pleasant one. “You must be memorable and confident, differentiate yourself from the competition,” said Maharaj.

Hirsch’s Struben’s Valley public relations officer, Raquel Holdsworth said that this was a great way for companies to get exposure. She explained that Hirsch’s prides itself on being the retailer that gets involved with its customers beyond the cashier till.
