Car-jammer busy on West Rand

Suspect especially busy at nurseries and service stations.

Once again an Audi is linked to criminal activity.

Various crime-fighting groups have issued a warning to the public to be on the lookout for a man driving a silver Audi. He is believed to be involved in ‘car jamming’ by using a device to override a vehicle’s remote controlled locking mechanism.

The suspect has been spotted in Weltevreden Park, Randpark Ridge and Florida. He uses two different fake number plates – BK71RN GP and CC12DK GP. He is especially busy at nurseries and service stations.

If the man is spotted he should not be confronted as it is not known whether he is armed or not. The public should rather contact their security company or the police.

The public are urged to double check whether their vehicles are locked before walking away.
