Two armed robbers arrested

Suspect pretended to have firearm.

Two Florida residents got more than finger-licking chicken this past Sunday when they fell victim to an armed robbery.

At around 7.30pm the man and woman were on their way to the KFC fast-food outlet on Clarendon Drive when two men approached them. One of the suspects pulled out a knife while the other pretended to have a firearm hidden in his trousers. The suspect with the knife ordered the victims not to shout or draw attention. They searched their victims and fled with the woman’s cellphone as well as an undisclosed amount of money.

The victims immediately reported the crime at Florida Police Station and based on the accurate description of the clothes the robbers were wearing, police promptly arrested the two suspects.

The two suspects, aged 22 and 30, were detained on a charge of armed robbery and will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon.
