Update: Principal concerned over shooting

Two foreign nationals injured.

The principal of Claremont Primary School, Danie Marx said he is shocked and concerned over the shooting of two foreign nationals at a tuck shop next to the school.

During an attempted robbery the owner of the tuck shop and his assistant was shot in Amatola Crescent but the assailants had to flee with nothing. Both victims survived the shooting.

According to Marx the shooting incident “luckily happened at 12.50pm, just before the the younger children went home”.

“The community usually informs the school when serious incidents takes place in the area. It is crucial for me to know about such incidents in the community as the children’s well being is always my first priority,” said Marx.

Meanwhile Provincial Police spokesperson Luitenant Kay Makhubela confirmed the shooting incident.
