Hijacker shot on 14th Avenue

One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the police

This past Tuesday at around 9pm a suspect was shot after hijacking a vehicle.

Members of the K9 Unit were patrolling along the N1 South when they received a call from a tracking company to be on the lookout for a white Toyota Quantum that was hijacked in Rabie Ridge. They spotted the vehicle on 14th Avenue and gave chase. When the suspects saw the police they both jumped out while the vehicle was still in motion.

One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the police, but was shot in his lower body. The other suspect, who was also armed, managed to escape.

The arrested suspect was taken to hospital.

The 25-year-old suspect was in possession of a stolen vehicle and of an unlicensed firearm. The firearm was stolen in Orange Farm last year.
