Starting off this year at inter-schools, Visser made quick progression to Roodepoort Champs and then to D12 Championships. Recently, she competed at Gauteng Championships which propelled her to the SASA National Primary Schools Track and Field Championships in March.

It was there that Visser excelled and made her school incredibly proud. Visser competed in the 800m medium distance race and won a respectable third place in a time of 00:02:17:94.

Welties athletes coach Quintus Write said, “I am proud to be able to work with someone as talented as Alison. It is a great representation for Welties.”

He added that only a few pupils from Roodepoort schools made it to the SA Champs and to win is a great accomplishment.

“Running teaches me discipline that I try use inside and outside of the classroom and track,” said Visser.
