Accident hotspot claims another victim

Woman lucky not to be injured.

Yesterday at around 3pm another vehicle was involved in an accident at the slipway at the corner of Ruhama Drive and Ontdekkers Road – the second accident in two days at this hotspot.

A woman was driving from Westgate Shopping Centre’s direction and wanted to turn left into Ontdekkers Road towards Krugersdorp when a truck, also travelling towards Krugersdorp, hit her. The woman was lucky to come off unscathed, said a Dowry Security reaction officer who secured the scene.

The Record has been receiving complaints about this spot since last year. The owner of the business to whom the wall belongs through which a vehicle had crashed two days before, said it is a regular occurrence.

There is a slipway with a yield sign to the left but motorists ignore it and instead treat it as just a slipway. As soon as they are on Ontdekkers Road other traffic either forces them off the road and into the wall, or they crash into each other.
