Policemen at ATM with alleged drug dealer

Police can not investigate.

Questions are being raised about why two policemen allegedly were seen at an ATM with a person who is believed to be a drug dealer.

On Sunday at around 9pm a man, who does not want to be identified because he does not want to be seen as “tarnishing the image of good cops”, was in a parked vehicle at a filling station on CR Swart Road when he noticed something suspicious. Two policemen were talking to a man whom the eyewitness insists is a drug dealer. The trio then walked to an ATM on the premises where the alleged drug dealer withdrew money with one of the policemen helping him. The man then handed over the money to the policemen.

The eyewitness took photos of the incident but it was too grainy to be of any significance. The eyewitness was also able to take down the police vehicle’s call signal as well as its registration number.

The Record approached Roodepoort Police about the incident but their spokesperson, Nonhlanhla Khumalo said they could not investigate unless the complainant laid a charge.

An employee at the filling station said they were not aware of any drug dealing on the property but they had problems before with ATM fraud.
