Children traumatised by armed robbers

Victim just returned from shopping.

A woman and three children fell victim to armed robbers yesterday afternoon (22 March).

The woman just returned to her home on Vergelegen Street at around 2pm after she had gone shopping, when the incident took place. She pulled into her yard and started carrying the shopping bags into the house when three suspects scaled the wall. They held her and the three children at gunpoint. They managed to flee with jewellery and a television.

The three suspects, who were described as slender and tall, fled in a white Golf GTi. The getaway driver is said to be overweight.

The children had to receive trauma counselling after the incident.

West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch (WSRNW) has asked residents to be extra vigilant in the wake of a spate of armed robberies in the Witpoortjie area.
