GALLERY and VIDEO: Fun in the sun on Splash Day

WETEVREDEN PARK–Grade R pupils organised a Splash Day to celebrate their principal's birthday.

The Welridge Academy hosted their annual Splash Day to celebrate a special celebration.

Welridge Academy principal Janine Joubert said that 15 March is her birthday and that the Grade Rs organised a Splash Day in honour of her special day.

“Through various fundraising initiatives we were able to sponsor a jumping castle and water slides for the pupils. We had the same event last year but this year the pupils decided to do something special for me,” said Joubert.

She said the pupils look forward to this event every year, which always takes place at the end of the term, after exams.

“Every child contributed R10 to take part in the day and a parent was kind enough to donate ice creams to all our pupils. All the funds raised will be used to upgrade our sports facilities and provide educational resources for Grade R pupils,” explained Joubert.

Grade 7 pupil Assante Kayembe said that she and her classmates always look forward to Splash Day at the school. “I enjoy this because we all get to play together as a school and enjoy the fun rides,” said Kayembe.

“I normally always try to spend my special day with children and my close friends, today is the best birthday I’ve ever celebrated,” said Joubert.
