Suspect apprehended after two years

MULDERSDRIFT – Police solve crime after two years of investigative work.

After two years of investigation, Detective Constable Freedom Chavalala of the Muldersdrift Police made a major breakthrough in a difficult case this week.

Due to Const Chavalala’s investigation, a 29-year-old suspect, who was apprehended on 9 March, will now have to face a charge of business burglary. The crime was committed on 26 April 2014 in a store at Cradlestone Mall in Muldersdrift. The next morning at approximately 6am a security officer noticed that the back door at the McDonalds’ store was slightly open.

He reported the matter to the store manager who later noticed that an undisclosed amount of cash was missing from the safe. After further investigation, an employee of the company was identified as a possible suspect.

Const Chavalala’s two years of investigative work resulted in locating and arresting the suspect in Randburg.

Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Kgaogelo Seabi, applauded Const Chavalala for his perseverance and the ultimate arrest.

“Muldersdrift area will eventually be free from all criminal activities,” said Lt Col Seabi.
