Man arrested for rape

MULDERSDRIFT –Suspect has been arrested by Muldersdrift SAPS.

A 45-year-old man, accused of rape, was arrested by the Muldersdrift Police.

According to Muldersdrift Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwena, the victim alleged she was waiting at a bus stop next to the Key West Shopping Centre in Krugersdorp for a taxi to the Cradlestone Mall on 25 February.

A silver grey Corsa bakkie stopped next to her and the driver questioned her about her final destination. The driver then apparently offered the woman a lift after he explained to her that he was looking for a domestic worker.

WO Ngwena said, “The suspect took her to his home in the Featherbrooke View area and allegedly raped her.”

Featherbrooke Estate management was adamant that the incident did not happen inside the up-market estate.

A case docket was opened and the suspect briefly appeared in Krugersdorp Magistrates’ court. The case was postponed for further investigation.

Muldersdrift Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Kgaogelo David Seabi applauded police members for their swift reaction which led to the arrest. He said Muldersdrift Police will not tolerate the abuse of woman and children. Seabi also emphasised that Muldersdrift Police want to ensure that this area is free from criminal activities.
