Update: Troubled 15-year-old found

Father and 30-year-old "boyfriend" still wanted.

The 15-year-old girl (referred to as Tarryn for safety reasons) who repeatedly had run away from rehab has been found. Each time she escaped she sought refuge at her father who has a restraining order against him.

Lourens Smit, a South African Search and Rescue (SASR) investigator, said after he had received a tip-off he informed Brixton Police that the girl, her father and 30-year-old “boyfriend” were at an address in Melville. Brixton Police and Melville CPF went to the address where they found Tarryn, but her father and “boyfriend” had fled. She refused to tell police where they were. She subsequently was returned to her mother and currently is being kept at a hospital.

Mother battles to have dangerous ex-husband arrested

A social worker has applied for a court order to have Tarryn admitted to a more secure rehabilitation facility after she escaped from the previous one twice with the help of her father and “boyfriend”. She also threatened that she would escape again, this time with the help of her “boyfriend’s” mother. Tarryn’s mother has opened a case of statutory rape against the “boyfriend”.

The mother alleged that the father is a substance abuser who supplies his 15-year-old daughter with drugs. According to the mother the father also has various cases against him across the country, ranging from attempted murder to domestic violence. He also is wanted by the South African Revenue Service (Sars).
