Police make two major arrests after receiving information from the public

MULDERSDRIFT – Muldersdrift Police arrested suspects in two separate crime incidents.

Muldersdrift Police swiftly arrested a 23-year-old man on the evening of 27 February after dagga plants were discovered on a plot in Steynsvlei in the Muldersdrift area.

The suspect was charged and was expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court this week facing a charge of dealing in dagga.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly manufactured and sold dagga to members of the public.

“The station commander Lieutenant Colonel David Seabi applauded the members for this major arrest and further indicated that Muldersdrift area will eventually be free of drug-related offences,” explained police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya.

In another incident, a man was arrested for possession of stolen goods during a police patrol along Malibongwe Drive during the early morning hours of 23 February.

The victim stopped the police and reported the incident and indicated that he knew where his stolen truck was taken. He then drove with the police to a plot in Nooitgedacht.

On their arrival, they found another truck parked next to the victim’s truck with men busy offloading goods from his truck. “The suspects noticed the police approaching them. They fled leaving a 32-year-old behind who was later arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods. He was charged and briefly appeared in Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court,” said WO Ngwenya.

According to the police, the victim alleged that he was hijacked in Vosloorus and suspects dropped him on Malibongwe Drive next to the Hertford Garage in Muldersdrift.

Lt-Col Seabi again applauded police for their swift reaction in this major arrest and further indicated that no stone will be left unturned in the Muldersdrift area.
