First leap year baby for Netcare Pinehaven Hospital

PINEHAVEN - All smiles this leap year.

Netcare Pinehaven Hospital in Waterfall welcomed their first leap year baby this year.

Bongiwe Mtshali gave birth to baby Okuhle Mkhize at 16.56pm. This was Mtshali’s first baby and the first leap day baby for the hospital, which made it extra special. The maternity ward staff showered baby Mkhize with a basket of goodies and a card to mark the special occasion.

Mtshali was impressed with the nurses. “I am very excited and overwhelmed,” said Mtshali. She also mentioned that Okuhle’s father was hoping for the baby to be born on the leap day, “I had forgotten that it is the leap year,” admitted Mtshali. She said that she just wants her baby to grow up and be cute.

Baby Okuhle was born with the weight of 2.65kg.
